Initial secret name of the concept that became Kikka. ‘Kōkoku’ 興国 means ‘prosperous country’ or ‘making the country prosperous’ – the special weapons were expected to improve the war situation. Often incorrectly written as the identically pronounced word 皇国, which means ’empire’.
